Artist Statement
I live and paint in Abington, Pennsylvania. My work is a compilation of things I see around me in everyday life. I look for the quiet moments in life such as the slight off color of the sky against intertwining street poles and skywires or the morning glow on the tree tops. I strive to enhance the color, light, and space of the scene with an inventive aspect added to my environments.
I paint my simple scenes to create a familiar feeling of home and nostalgia. Most of my work is inspired by the scenes of my local town but with a twist; the painting is never exact but enhances what caught my eye when I first saw the view. I strive to create the same energy within my paintings as these places have already within themselves.
It is more about the paint rather than just painstakingly copying every leaf or blade of grass in my paintings. We have technology to take perfectly depicted photographs but I strive to create a version of those images to express a feeling of its energy, which is my way of appreciating the life around me.
